Bits of wisdom

   I love quotes, they are short little tid-bits to guide you and inspire you on this journey of life. The book of Proverbs in the Bible is one of my favorites for this reason. Solomon's wisdom broken down into short stories and songs so applicable to situations in my own life and helps me to sometimes understand the world around me. Here are a few I found highlighted in my own Bible, so at one time they helped me through a situation I was going through.

-Proverbs 10:19  When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.
-Proverbs 11:2    When pride comes then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
-Proverbs 14:26   He who fears the Lord has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.
-Proverbs 15:1-2   A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. 
Proverbs 15:4-5   The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit. A fool spurns his fathers discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.
-Proverbs 15:12   A mocker resents correction, he will not consult the wise.
-Proverbs 18:17  The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
-Proverbs 20:5   The purpose of a mans heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.
-Proverbs 24: 23-29  Further sayings of the wise
*23-24  To show partiality in judging is not good, Whoever says to the guilty, you are innocent- peoples will curse him and nations denounce him. 
*25 But it will go well for those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come upon them.
*26 An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.
*27  Finish your outside work first and get your fields ready, after that, build your house.
*28 Do not testify against your neighbor without cause, or use your lips to deceive.
*29  Do not say, I'll do to him as he has done to me; I'll pay that man back for what he did.  
-Proverbs 27:19  As water reflects a face, so a mans heart reflects the man.
Proverbs 29:11  A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.
