A frugal way to put pretty pictures on your walls

The calendar on the left was $1.99 and the one on the right was FREE, I got at the cancer treatment center when I was there getting x-rays.
These are the photographs in the Fishing calendar

Ok, now I know you will think I am crazy but with these two calendars I have the opportunity for 24 framed pictures that will be beautiful in my home. Most calendars have photographs from famous artists or photographers, so with the purchase of a calendar you have just gained access to art work, yes, artwork. If you buy calendars at the end of the calendar year you can get them for pennies on the dollar. I have picked up calendars over the years that have beautiful photographs for as little as 50 cents. The best part is they always have a theme, like horses, ocean scenes, trees, cats  and so on. So you can use a few together framed on the wall.  If your daughter wants a kitty theme or a princess theme for her room, look for a calendar. The next thing is finding thrifty frames. Sometimes you can find them in stores like Peebles or Belks on clearance, sometimes Hobby Lobby or Michaels have great clearance sales, so watch the papers or go online to look for clearance events. Yard sales and thrift stores are also a great place to find thrifty frames. If you like the style and not the color that's OK, just spray paint them. Spray paint is something you should add to your stash of decorating essentials. Buy some basic colors you like, I have black and brown. This way you can bring frames that normally would not match together to match and look nice on the wall together. No one will know you have framed calendar pictures on the wall but you and you can be proud of the fact that you have stretched your dollars and put some beautiful artwork on the walls to make your space more homey and inviting. Think smart, think frugal and get out there and look for discount 2013 calendars, it is the end of the year so they will be on sale. When I was growing up we had a family in town who were very successful and were blessed with a lot of money. There house was one of the biggest and nicest in town. But on Saturday mornings you would see the wife's Cadillac stopping at every yard sale, popping that big trunk and loading up on things for her home or for others. She always said no matter how much money she had, a good deal was a good deal. Being smart and frugal doesn't mean your POOR, it means your smart.

Happy calendar hunting !!!!!
Love, Kimberley
